Meet the chiropractor: Dr Guy Finch offers chiropractic solutions in Alexandria, Sydney

Dr Guy Finch

Dr Guy Finch is a gym junkie who enjoys treating athletes and fitness fanatics. Based in Alexandria Sydney, Guy takes a holistic approach to chiropractic solutions. After all, it was the endless little niggles and injuries playing sport as a young Aussie that inspired Guy to turn to chiropractic for his profession. At Sydney Spine and Sports Clinic, we want to be part of helping you live an active and healthy life. We practice an evidence-based approach of chiropractic care that in turn enables you to make informed and educated decisions about your health. After all, success finds those that lead their own health and wellbeing – and we are here to support you all the way!

What inspired you to become a chiropractor?

I played a lot of sport as a young kid. I used to feel so frustrated by the constant stream of niggles and injuries that would hold me back. When I began learning about why injuries happen, and what I could do to help reduce them, it became the foundation for my inspiration to become a chiropractor. I felt driven to apply chiropractic solutions to help people prevent pain and injury in their own lives. After all, I’d been to chiropractors myself for sport injury treatment, so I knew it made a difference.

What are your qualifications? Do you have an area of speciality?

I have a Bachelor’s in Chiropractic Science and a Master of Chiropractic. My major interest is treating athletes and active people of all ages and levels. I take a holistic view to patient health – I love to help people bounce back from injuries and support them to enhance their ongoing physical ability and performance.

How do you keep mobile?

I aim to get to the gym about 4 times a week. I focus on mobility, strength training and (p)rehab exercises to make sure my body is functioning as optimally as possible.

Name one thing you’d recommend the average person does to look after their spinal health:

It’s absolutely key that you find exercise you enjoy. Whatever you choose -- walking, running, swimming, a class at the gym, yoga or something else – just make sure it’s something you like so you’ll stick to it!

What’s your favourite poor pun or ‘Dad joke’?

My patients get to experience my best terrible jokes as they tend to happen ‘in the moment’! But for now, I do have one I can share: Q: Why was the owl invited to the bird party?A: Because he was such a hoot!
